Michael Jackson Exhibition Trailer
National Portrait Gallery
A bold, fast paced trailer to promote the new Michael Jackson exhibition at National Portrait Gallery.
This very high profile motion graphics job was an absolute joy to be a part of. The original brief asked for an exciting, fast paced video of works within the exhibition to be edited to finger clicks and foot stomps, so as to get around having to obtain expensive rights to a famous Michael Jackson track.
I felt there was no impact to this, and so I instead suggested we use the opening to ‘Billy Jean’ with its iconic hard hitting snares and unmistakeable bass riff, which I could then edit to and hopefully instil some foot tapping excitement in the audience.
After producing the first 10 seconds to try give an idea of how the piece with this track would look, with fast jump cuts and full screen contrasting colour jumps; permission was very quickly given by the Michael Jackson estate, and the finished trailer was received incredibly well by National Portrait Gallery.
This is my first piece of work to be shown on the BBC.
